Nadine Zhan is an artist from Brooklyn, New York. They were born to Chinese immigrants from Lianjiang, Fuzhou and began creating images on a green iphone 5C when they were 10. They grew up observing cultural influences from a Chinese background and New York lifestyle. Their work is a reflection of how they are constantly learning something new about their family, identity, and surrounding community. It is a direct homage to the power of sight and how beautiful it is to carry the privilege of being alive. Through their analog practice and experimental approach to image making, their process brings an archive of emotion within still images and a dedication to creating with intention. It is a study of consistently questioning the limitations and history of what makes us human. Nadine is graduating with a BA in photography & Imaging from New York University in 2025.
